Late check-out (after 11:00 AM and before 12:00 PM) may result in a fee.

Cancelation Policies:

Guests can cancel, for free, 7 days prior to check-in if booked directly through our property. If the guest cancels within the 7-day policy, the deposit will be refunded to the card on file within 2-3 business days.

Please Note: The first-night room rate, tax, and service charges are processed at the time of booking. The entire remaining balance is processed 7 days prior to check-in. If guests do not cancel 7 days prior to check-in, the entire reservation cost is nonrefundable. 3rd party bookings are 100% prepaid due to being nonrefundable.

Cancellation is not complete if you email us, call us, or chat with us through 3rd party booking sites. To verify cancellations, you will need to get a cancellation notice through the site you booked. This includes bookings through Expedia, Booking.com, Travelocity, Hotel.com, Tripadvisor, or any other booking engine other than going through www.rhetthouseinn.com. To avoid any confusion, please book directly through our property at www.rhetthouseinn.com.

Check-in/Check-out Times

Check-In: 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm – Please notify us if you will be arriving later than 8 pm on the day of check-in. Check-Out: 11:00 am. Rates are for double occupancy only. Any extra persons over the age of 5 will incur a $45 per person per night charge. If this is incorrectly marked or doesn’t calculate correctly during the reservation process, the $45.00 fee will be assessed during check-in. Note: we do not have cribs, roll-away beds, or highchairs.   

Elevators

We do not have elevators. We are a historic property, with multiple floors in the main house and cottages. Stairs are the only way to get to some rooms. We suggest packing accordingly if you wish for your room to be on a higher floor. If mobility issues are a concern, please consider rooms on the main floor of the main house (rooms 1, 9, or 10) or the ground floor of the main house (rooms 6, 7, or 8). If you are staying in the cottages, please consider rooms on the ground floor (rooms 11, 12, or 14). The Newcastle house is all one floor, requiring only 2 steps to access.  

Force Majeure
The hotel is not responsible for the property, monetary reimbursement of trip-related costs, or cancellation of reservation if caused by an act of God, an event for which no party can be held accountable, such as a hurricane or a tornado, or human actions, such as armed conflict. 

Hotel Events

At times, the inn will host events that might limit the facilities to guests. These events are not posted on our website. Please call the inn directly, if you have questions about events that might take place during your stay.

Pets

Pets under 50 pounds are allowed on the premises, in rooms 11 or 12 only. These rooms are the only designated pet-friendly rooms. If a reservation comes through requesting a pet-friendly room in any room other than 11 or 12, the reservation will not be honored. When booking a reservation, A $75.00 non-refundable fee will be charged to rooms wishing to check in with a pet. Pets cannot be left in rooms unaccompanied. If excessive barking occurs, a noise fee will be applied to the room. Additional costs can occur if we must relocate guests due to noise, if the room needs extensive cleaning, or if other damages occur. In extreme cases, guests can be asked to leave without a refund if pets pose a persistent issue to the comfort and enjoyment of others.  

Parking

The hotel offers complimentary off-street parking. If all spaces are full, there is plenty of complimentary parking on the quiet, lightly traveled side street next to the inn. Please note that parking is free on a first-come first served basis. During busy times, inn events, or town events close parking may pose a bit of an issue. Always call the inn, in advance, to see the best time to arrive, if mobility concerns are an issue.

Room Number Requests
We make every effort to accommodate requests for specific room numbers, but room assignments are based on room availability and type; therefore, we cannot guarantee any room number or location. As with any hotel, occasional unforeseen circumstances necessitate room changes. In such an event, we attempt to contact or upgrade guests who must be moved. **Important: We are not responsible for room changes necessitated by unforeseen situations or developments over which we have no control. 

Smoking
 The interior of The Rhett House Inn is smoke-free. There are numerous designated outdoor smoking areas on verandas and in the gardens. **Important: Smoking in a designated nonsmoking area is subject to a fine. Smoking in rooms and/or excessive damage or wear and tear to rooms or any of our common spaces will result in up to a $1500 cleaning fee, plus charges for any necessary damage repair.   

Early Check-in/Late Check-out Requests

These types of requests are just that, requests. We do not, nor cannot guarantee any early check-in requests or late check-out requests. Should you desire a later check-out, we will do our best to accommodate you. There will be an additional charge for early check-ins, as well as check-outs.  

Taxes and Fees

Quoted rates do not include applicable state and local accommodations taxes at the time of reservation (currently 12.5%, subject to change without notice) and a 12% service charge. When booking online, the service charge is lumped together under the tax. When checking out, tax and service charges are itemized separately. These fees are non-negotiable.  

Third-Party Bookings

When booking a third-party site, we reserve the right to charge the entire amount of the stay at the time of booking. For the best rates, please book through our booking engine at www.rhetthouseinn.com or call the inn directly at 843-524-9030.  

Outside Guests

We want to ensure that our guests have an amazing experience. We are a small inn, without a great deal of common area space. Outside guests can hinder this experience for others. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate guests that are not staying at the inn. This includes afternoon cookies, tea, evening cheese and crackers, and dessert service. We base the quantity we prepare on the number of rooms that we have reservations for. Rooms will be charged a fee for any outside guest consuming amenities.   

Lost Key/Lost Pass Charges 

If guests fail to return a room key, a $50.00 replacement fee will be applied to the room. If guests do not return the Beach Pass there will be a $99.00 replacement fee that will be applied to the room. To avoid a charge, please, make sure that the sign-in and out log is signed, and that a staff member receives the card and room key in hand.  

Dining Reservations

We do not offer dining options at the inn. We recommend making dining reservations at least 2-3 weeks prior to check-in. Downtown restaurants fill up quickly, especially on the weekends. If you are traveling on a Sunday or Monday, reservations are also a good idea, as many downtown restaurants are closed. Please check out our website for dining recommendations. Reservations can be made for most downtown restaurants on OpenTable, it is our recommendation that guests book directly through the restaurant they wish to dine at, as you can modify or cancel reservations through email or a mobile device.  

Special Needs (AMERICAN DISABILITY ACT)

We make every attempt to accommodate our guests’ special needs. Please let us know in advance if you have dietary restrictions, allergies, etc. and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
