The Rhett House Inn celebrates it Sesquicentennial in 2015—150 years as a beloved historic Inn serving visitors to Beaufort SC. In 1865 after Union troops who had occupied the building retreated at the close of the Civil War, the William Rhett house became an Inn for the first time and operated that way for the rest of the 19th century and into the 20th. Manhattanites and former fashion designer Marianne and Steve Harrison have been the proud owners for the past 28 years and the Inn has been awarded the coveted AAA Four Diamond award for the past 26 of those years.

The 2014 Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony will be taking place downtown Beaufort again this year. Any businesses or organizations that would like to be part of the parade are urged to fill out an entry form and return it by Monday, October 27, 2014.
The parade will step off Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. This year’s Grand Marshal is General George Crist, USMC, (Ret.).
The parade will be followed by a Veterans Day Ceremony in the Beaufort National Cemetery at 11 a.m. The keynote speaker will be Lieutenant General John L. Ballantyne, USA, (Ret.). The Parris Island Marine Band and the Beaufort Naval Hospital Choir will perform.

The grounds of Marshlands, a historic view on Beaufort’s waterfront, will be the site of the 11th annual oyster roast sponsored by Historic Beaufort Foundation January 21st, 5:30 p.m. – 10 p.m. Open to HBF members and the general public, the event will feature a traditional oyster roast, chicken gumbo, beverages and dessert catered by Reeves Outdoor Catering and music by the bluegrass band of Beek Webb and the Sea Island Ramblers.
Tickets are $50 per person, and reservations must be made for 5:30 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. servings. However, the grounds and the bonfires will be open to guests throughout the evening. The bar opens at 5 p.m. Tickets will not be sold at the door and must be purchased by January 14th. Tickets may be ordered and charged to a credit card by calling the office at 379-3331. The office is open Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
The purpose of the festival is to invite and recognize aspiring filmmakers of almost every genre and to showcase the beautiful, “film friendly” region of Beaufort and the Sea Islands.
