A Letter from the Innkeeper of Rhett House Inn

Welcome to the Rhett House Inn.

Clearly stated - our goal is to offer you quiet and comfortable service during your visit to what we feel is the finest vacation spot in all of South Carolina.

After a visit with friends in Beaufort, South Carolina my wife and I decided to change careers. You might call it a mid-life opportunity - we had both been involved in the fashion business in New York City. In 1986 we moved to Beaufort, bought a circa 1820 Beaufort hotel, and restored it to its former splendor. We purchased the Rhett House with the goal of providing the finest inn/hotel accommodations in Beaufort, South Carolina. Travel has always been a passion of ours, so we put our past experiences to work to create an experience: the feeling and comfort that we have always appreciated – in an inn that would reflect elegance and comfort with the amenities of a small luxurious hotel yet would still provide the personalized service of a sophisticated bed and breakfast inn. In the days, we lived in the inn and were the full staff. The inn has since grown from 5 to 17 rooms. We moved to our own home next door to the inn. It has been a satisfying journey and one that we have shared with many guests.

Some of our more famous guests include Robert Redford, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgewick. Barbra Streisand and Nick Nolte were guests during the filming of "Prince of Tides.” Ben Affleck and Sandra Bullock stayed with us while working on the film, "Forces of Nature". Demi Moore, Sharon Stone, Dennis Quaid, Meatloaf and Randy Quaid have also shared our hospitality. Every guest that stays at the inn is special to us.
